Zippity Doo Dah Weekend 2013!

If you've picked up a copy of the latest issue of the Northside Sun weekly or if you attended the #ZDD13 parade this past weekend, you would have seen the MIB Foundation for the Blind and Visually Impaired volunteering and participating in the many festivities!  The third annual Zippity Doo Dah celebration, starting Thursday, March 21, with Fondren's Arts, Eats, and Beats, was marked with live music, vendors, and fellowship.  The MIB Foundation was there to volunteer with the Lions Club by selling tickets for beverages and raffle tickets to the ride on the Clydesdale wagon, all the proceeds from which went to the Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital.  Although the outdoor events set for Friday evening were canceled due to rain, the MIB Foundation was back in action Saturday morning and afternoon assisting the Lions Club with parking for the Color Me Rad 5k through Fondren.  And last, but certainly not least--the Zippity Doo Dah Parade!  The MIB Foundation and its "Krewe No Vue" marched down State and Old Canton in Saturday Night's highly anticipated procession.  Complete with a the "Krewe No Vue" Banner, Drum Majorettes, a Cane Team, Drum-line, a life-sized Seeing-Eye-Dog, and plenty of bead-throwers, the MIB Foundation paraded through Fondren in fashion.  We hope you all had as great of a time as we did, and we hope to see you all again at next year's Zippity Doo Dah weekend!

Did you see us with Sweet Potato Queen Jill Connor Browne on the Cover of the Northside Sun?
